20 May Social Resilience, a new buzzword?
If you follow LinkedIn posts and articles you will have noticed the increased use of the word “Resilience” in connection with societies and social environments. Now what is this all about?
Amongst all the things that worry the leaders of our societies, the threat posed by CBRNe materials is, if not new, then emerging and terrifying.
Our cities became more dangerous than they have been. I am not referring to crime rates or traffic casualties. I am talking about a threat that is not being talked about in public. Politicians and city managers dodge that topic whenever they can. It is the threat from toxic substances being transported through our cities or being unlawful disposed and the clear and present danger of terrorist attacks with easy to produce substances. Precursors to very nasty and dangerous weapons can be procured without difficulties and the self-made concoctions then set free in densely populated areas achieving devastating effects.
Man-made disasters and industrial accidents are more common than ever.
This is an area where we have to focus on. We will not be able to prevent disasters from happening, but we can make sure we do everything we can to keep the impact on our society as low as possible. We can ensure we detect and identify the threat as early and as comprehensive as possible, reassuring our citizens that we keep them out of harm’s way as much as possible. A society that trusts its leadership and government will cope much better with disruptions and threats.
CBRNet®, a solution and a way forward
Making use of modern technology by networking detection equipment and producing a common and recognized picture provided to decision makers for situational awareness is the fundamental prerequisite to make better and faster decisions and to save lives.
CBRNet® is doing just this. Bruker, Bruhn Newtech and Cubic Mission Solutions, three leading companies in their field, teamed up and developed CBRNet® powered by SafeZone®.
Proud that Pelz Consulting has brought them together and proposed this idea, now supporting them to develop it further. There is more where that comes from.
